Dietetic Internship


Dietetic Internship & Master of Public Health

Students earn 18 graduate credits upon completion of the dietetic internship. A portion of these credits (as determined by the MPH Program Coordinator) can be applied toward the Master of Public Health degree offered at Lenoir-Rhyne University.  The remaining Master of Public Health degree courses are offered on-site at our Asheville and Hickory campuses.

 

Courses:

NTR 525 Principles of Dietetic Practice: For Dietetic Internship students. Preparation for supervised practice experiences in administrative, community and clinical dietetics. Required for Dietetic Internship students. (3 credits)

NTR 551 Practicum I: For Dietetic Internship students. Practical experience in the professional areas of dietetics: administrative, community, and clinical. Required for Dietetic Internship students. (6 credits)

NTR 552 Practicum II: For Dietetic Internship students. Practical experience in the professional areas of dietetics: administrative, community, and clinical. Required for Dietetic Internship students. (6 credits)

NTR 570 Dietetics Capstone: For Dietetic Internship students. Capstone course includes professional development, clinical problem solving, assessing medical record data, evaluating food intake, planning modified diets, and reviewing medical and research literature. Develops critical thinking, teamwork and communication skills needed by the dietetic intern and dietitian. (3 credits)
