Mission and Goals

Mission

The mission of the Solmaz Institute Dietetic Internship is to prepare competent dietetic professionals for service to the world through a collaborative and community based learning environment with attention given to the prevention and treatment of childhood obesity.

Goals and Objectives

  1. Graduates will be prepared for entry-level positions in dietetics.
    • Over a 5-year period, 80% of program graduates will pass the RD exam on the first attempt
    • Over a 5-year period, 95% of interns complete the program within 15 months of starting the program
    • Over a 5-year period, 75% or more of responding program graduates who sought employment in dietetics will be employed within 12 months of program completion
    • Over a 5-year period, 75% of responding employers of program graduates will agree that graduates exhibit skills related to those of competent entry-level dietitians 
  2. Graduates will be prepared for positions in child and adolescent nutrition.
    • 100% of students will successfully complete the Certificate of Training in Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management
    • Over a 5-year period, 50% of responding program graduates who seek employment in a dietetics-related position which includes childhood obesity prevention and/or treatment will obtain such employment within 12 months of program completion
